Cross Lutheran School

Guiding children to learn, to love, and to live under the grace of God's forgiveness

6th-8th Grade

Class Mission Statement (written by students):

Always do personal best while having an open mind to learn new things and get good grades.

Learn, teach about, and honor God while setting a good example and spreading His light.

We each live as a Christian but learn as a whole.

Our school-wide theme this year is SHINE!

"In the same way, let your light shine before men, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your father in Heaven."  Matthew 5:16

This year's classroom theme is "Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow." In social studies we will be studying World History and World Geography. Students will learn about the PAST and PRESENT and consider the FUTURE of different regions of the world, including the Middle East, Europe, Asia, and Africa.

In science, we will be focusing on Earth Science.  Students will begin the year learning about what materials and landforms we see on the earth TODAY, as we use the Battle Creek Science Kit, "Planet Rock".  Students will learn how energy can CHANGE from one form into another.  Later in the year students will consider the earth's PAST and what processes have shaped the earth to make it look the way it does TODAY.

In Language Arts, students will read novels and work on projects that are integrated with Social Studies and Science topics.

In Religion, students will be studying the world's first history book, the Bible, and learn about the the PAST.  Creation, the Kingdom of Israel, and the life of Jesus will be explored in a historical context, as well as how it can be applied to student's lives TODAY and the FUTURE.   We  talk about God every day in devotions, through His Word and talking to Him in prayer as we develop a closer relationship with Him.

"Jesus Christ is the same YESTERDAY and TODAY and FOREVER."  Hebrews 13:8
