Our school-wide theme this year is DO SOMETHING!
"For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to DO good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." Ephesians 2:10
This year's classroom theme is "Forces of Change." In social studies we will be studying U.S. history from its beginnings through the Civil War. Students will learn our country's story and the FORCES OF CHANGE that have shaped it. We will be reading and writing more about these FORCES in language arts through historical fiction, biographies, and interactive activities.
In science, we will begin the year learning about FORCES of energy and motion through the Battle Creek Science Kit "Energetic Connections." Students will learn how energy can CHANGE from one form into another. They will also learn about the FORCES of gravity, friction, and magnetism. Later in the year students will experience how matter can CHANGE through various FORCES as they study basic principles of chemistry.
Of course, we will also be learning more about the greatest FORCE OF CHANGE in the universe: God. We will learn about Him every day through His Word and talking to Him in prayer as we develop a closer relationship with Him.
May the FORCE be with you!
Class Mission Statement (written by students):
We will work together as we approach new and challenging obstacles.
We will work together and do our best to help each other while glorifying God.
We will set a good example for the younger children of our school.
We will always stay faithful to our God as we grow in His Word.
Guiding children to learn, to love, and to live under the grace of God's forgiveness
